In early April 2000, 44‑year‑old Kieran Burke from Rathfarnham, Dublin, embarked upon what was meant to be a peaceful two‑week holiday in San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. Having reserved lodging near the park from April 4–6, Burke checked into Curry Village in Yosemite Valley and set out the following morning on a solo day hike. That hike would mark the final verified sighting of him—on the morning of April 5—ever again.
The Vanishing at Curry Village
Burke’s disappearance was alarmingly abrupt. He never checked out on April 6, prompting park staff to notice something was amiss. His rental car sat abandoned in the Curry Village lot—locked, with no signs of tampering or any clues pointing to his whereabouts.
