A Routine Afternoon Turns Tragic
On July 14, 1986, at approximately 3:45 p.m., 19-year-old David Fierro was making his way home in Westminster, Colorado. His route took him from the vicinity of 80th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard toward his residence near 74th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. This path led him behind a strip shopping mall located at 3001 West 74th Avenue, just south of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School.
The Fatal Encounter
As David traversed the area behind the shopping center, an assailant approached and shot him. The sudden act of violence left David critically injured. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and he was airlifted by Flight for Life helicopter to a nearby hospital.
