A Promising Life Cut Short
On the evening of September 18, 2016, 19-year-old Parasha M. Beard was seated in a parked car in Chicago's South Chicago neighborhood. At approximately 6:10 p.m., another vehicle approached, and an unidentified individual opened fire, fatally wounding Beard. Despite being eight months pregnant, medical personnel at Northwestern Memorial Hospital were able to deliver her baby prematurely. Tragically, Beard was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
A Newborn's Fight for Life
The infant, named A'Miracle Jones, was born weighing only three pounds and faced significant medical challenges from the outset. She was immediately transferred to Comer Children's Hospital for specialized care.
