A Routine Evening Turns Fatal
On the night of June 28, 2017, the Washington Park neighborhood on Chicago's South Side was the scene of a tragic event that remains unresolved. Juliet Veronica Washington, 41, and her friend Jeanine Dowell, 32, were driving northbound around 10:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Wabash Avenue. As they stopped at a traffic light, an unknown assailant from another vehicle opened fire, fatally wounding both women. Their SUV subsequently veered onto the sidewalk, coming to a halt as the perpetrators fled the scene.

Juliet Washington, a resident of Woodridge, Illinois, was a dedicated mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Westmont, with 17 years of service. She was also a devoted mother of two children.
