A Routine Evening Turns Tragic
On the evening of August 31, 2004, Susan Perkins, a 34-year-old mother of two, was assisting her friend with tinting windows at a salon on Maitland Avenue in Altamonte Springs, Florida. What began as a typical evening quickly descended into a nightmare when a masked man armed with a rifle entered the salon, disrupting their routine task.
The Abduction and Forced Withdrawal
The intruder, described as a Black male approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a ski mask and a long-sleeved military-style jacket, demanded money from the two women. Unsatisfied with what they had, he forced them into Susan's red Ford Focus. Under duress, Susan was compelled to drive to a nearby Washington Mutual Bank located at 500 E. Altamonte Drive.
