In the early hours of September 4, 1993, the vibrant community of San Diego was shaken by the tragic loss of 21-year-old Mimi Barraza. Just two days after celebrating her birthday, Mimi stood with friends outside a residence on 39th Street. Without warning, a white Chevy Astro van approached, and its occupants unleashed a hail of bullets upon the unsuspecting group.
