Introduction
In the early hours of July 31, 2016, the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by the tragic and senseless murder of 27-year-old Latrell Gipson. Despite the passage of time, his case remains unsolved, leaving a void in the hearts of his family and community.
The Fateful Night
At approximately 1 a.m., Latrell was walking on the sidewalk in the 200 block of North Kostner Avenue. Without warning, gunshots rang out, and Latrell was struck in the head. He was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. The crime scene extended from West End to Maypole, with a pool of blood marking the spot where Latrell fell.
