On the evening of October 30, 2018, the quiet of Champaign's 400 block of West Vine Street was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 8:44 p.m., local police responded to reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Dondre Moore lying in the driveway of a private residence, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Dondre was pronounced dead at 9:22 p.m.
