On the afternoon of January 27, 2015, 32-year-old Maria Lourdes Soza stood outside her home on Revere Avenue in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood. Having just returned from picking up her three children from school, the family gathered near their residence, unaware of the impending danger. Without warning, gunfire erupted from two passing vehicles, and a stray bullet struck Maria in the head, fatally wounding her in front of her children. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital.
