A Fatal Encounter in Back of the Yards
On the evening of December 26, 2016, the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago was shaken by a violent incident that claimed the life of 25-year-old Jamil M. Shuaibi. At approximately 5:51 p.m., Jamil was walking in the 4400 block of South Hermitage Avenue when an unknown assailant emerged from a vehicle and opened fire, striking him multiple times. Despite being rushed to Stroger Hospital, Jamil succumbed to his injuries at 10:30 p.m. The Cook County medical examiner's office later identified him as Jamil Al-Shaubi.
A Young Life Cut Short
Jamil resided in the 8000 block of West Thomas Street. Details about his personal life, aspirations, and the impact he had on those around him remain scarce.
