A Night of Violence in San Bernardino
On the night of July 9, 2014, the city of San Bernardino was once again shaken by violence. At approximately 11:30 p.m., 27-year-old Juan Carlos Villapudua was fatally shot in the parking lot of a strip mall located in the 2800 block of West Rialto Avenue. This incident marked the fourth homicide in the city within a span of five days, highlighting a disturbing surge in local violence.
The Fatal Encounter
According to police reports, Villapudua approached a newer model white car, possibly a Nissan, in the strip mall's parking lot. An occupant of the vehicle fired multiple shots, striking Villapudua at least once in the upper torso. Despite paramedics' efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
