Discovery of a Gruesome Scene
On April 10, 2014, a horrifying discovery was made at the Pavilion Place apartments in southwest Houston. A neighbor, while walking her dog, heard the persistent cries of an infant emanating from an open apartment door. Upon entering, she found a blood-soaked scene: the lifeless bodies of 23-year-olds Jose Miguel Salinas and his girlfriend, Melissa Ann Guerra, with their 4-month-old daughter lying between them, miraculously unharmed but drenched in her parents' blood.
A Crime Shrouded in Mystery
The circumstances surrounding the murders were perplexing. There were no signs of forced entry, suggesting the assailants might have been known to the victims or gained access without resistance.
