The Woman Behind the Name
Barbara Stoffer was an elderly resident of Howardville, Missouri, described as a petite white woman, approximately 5’0″ to 5’2″ in height and weighing around 120 pounds. With gray hair, brown eyes, and often seen wearing eyeglasses, she was nearing 83 years old at the time of her disappearance. Barbara also struggled with bipolar disorder and depression, and some accounts suggest she may have had early-stage Alzheimer’s, which amplified concerns about her vulnerability .

On August 20, 2013, Barbara embarked on what appeared to be a familiar routine drive.
