On the evening of August 20, 2015, the tranquility of Jacksonville's Southside was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Seventeen-year-old Anthony Malik Byirt was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Plantation Apartments, leaving a community in mourning and a family devastated. Despite the passage of time, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unresolved, with no arrests made in connection to the case.
A Young Life Full of Promise
Anthony was more than just a statistic; he was a young man with dreams and aspirations. As a senior at Biscayne High School, he was eagerly anticipating his final year. His girlfriend, Karlendria Wade, recounted his ambitions to attend community college and later transfer to the University of Florida to major in computer science.
