A Deadly Night in South Shore
On the night of March 30, 2017, the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago was engulfed in violence, witnessing seven homicides within a mere 12-hour span. Among the victims were 27-year-old Cornell M. Patrick and 23-year-old Dominique Victoria Scott, whose lives were abruptly ended in a drive-by shooting that remains unsolved to this day.
The Fatal Encounter
Shortly after 11 p.m., Patrick and Scott were traveling southbound on South Shore Drive in a gray van. As they approached the intersection near 70th Street, a black Jeep pulled alongside their vehicle. Without warning, an assailant from the Jeep opened fire, striking Scott in the side of the head as she sat in the front passenger seat and Patrick in the side of his body while he was seated in the back.
