On March 6, 1997, the quiet community of Bloomington was shattered by a violent incident that left one man dead and three others injured. Ramon Carillo, along with his companions Samuel Leyva, Jennie Burgos, and Erica Barrera, were traveling together in a vehicle. As they came to a stop, two unidentified Hispanic males approached on bicycles and opened fire, striking all four occupants. Tragically, Carillo succumbed to his injuries, while the others survived the attack.
