A Promising Life Cut Short
On October 28, 2001, the vibrant life of 17-year-old Christopher John Courtemanche was tragically ended. Born on July 16, 1984, at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C., Christopher moved to Houston in 1986, where he grew into a creative and compassionate young man. He attended Clear Lake High School before obtaining his GED and working at a local Barnes & Noble in Pasadena. Known for his artistic talents and love for playing the guitar, Christopher was also passionate about fast cars, a hobby that would unknowingly lead him into harm's way.
The Fateful Night
That evening, Christopher joined friends at a street racing event in north Houston, a popular gathering spot for car enthusiasts. After participating in a few races, he and a friend left to put air in their tires. While stopped at a red light on Rankin Road at I-45, an unidentified driver in a white SUV pulled alongside them and opened fire.
