On January 26, 2017, just two days after celebrating his 18th birthday, Victortadao Maurice Hobbs was tragically shot and killed in Jacksonville's Southside Estates neighborhood. The young man's life, filled with potential and dreams, was abruptly ended, leaving his family and community in deep mourning. Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests made to date.
A Mother's Heartache and Advocacy
Latasha Hobbs, Maurice's mother, vividly recalls the joyous moments leading up to the tragedy. "Just two days prior to Jan. 26, we celebrated my Reese’s 18th birthday. Today, five years ago, we were all dancing in the kitchen," she recounted in 2022. The pain of losing her son has transformed into a relentless drive for justice and change.
