In the early hours of April 7, 2019, 28-year-old Montray Brown was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment building on the 2400 block of Wagner Street, Southeast D.C. Responding to a call at approximately 1:35 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered Montray's lifeless body; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
