A Promising Life Dedicated to Service
Kristopher Killian, a 23-year-old Oakland resident, was a man who exemplified dedication and service. After graduating from Hayward High School in 2011, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably as an aviation electrician. Friends and family remember him as a joyful presence, always ready with a smile and a joke to lift the spirits of those around him. His commitment to his loved ones and his country was evident in every aspect of his life.
A Tragic Evening in East Oakland
On the evening of December 26, 2016, tragedy struck. At approximately 7:20 p.m., Oakland police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 2600 block of Humboldt Avenue, located in the Peralta Creek neighborhood of East Oakland. Upon arrival, officers discovered Kristopher Killian suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
