In the early hours of August 30, 2010, the quiet of North Long Beach was shattered by a gruesome discovery. At approximately 6:30 a.m., a passerby found the lifeless body of 27-year-old Heather Nicole Broadus lying face down on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 56th Street. Heather, a resident of La Mirada, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, with the fatal shot piercing her torso. The time of the shooting is believed to have been the previous evening, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.
