Discovery of a Tragedy
On the afternoon of November 13, 2020, at approximately 3:22 p.m., officers from the Champaign Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of East Hill Street following a report of a person believed to be deceased inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Shawntiel D. Harrison with a fatal gunshot wound, marking the beginning of a complex and unresolved homicide investigation.
A Community in Mourning
The news of Harrison's death sent shockwaves through the Champaign community. Friends, family, and neighbors grappled with the sudden loss of a young man whose life was abruptly taken.
