On the evening of April 18, 2009, 21-year-old Alexander Apalit of Daly City was fatally shot in San Francisco's Mission Terrace neighborhood. At approximately 9:15 p.m., Apalit was a passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on Otsego Avenue near the intersection of Santa Ynez Avenue when a dark, four-door sedan with tinted windows—possibly an Infiniti Q35—approached and opened fire into the vehicle he was riding in.
Following the shooting, Apalit's friends drove him to St. Luke's Hospital in an attempt to save his life. However, St. Luke's was not equipped to handle gunshot wounds, necessitating his transfer to San Francisco General Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Apalit succumbed to his injuries.
Apalit was more than a victim; he was a young man with dreams and ambitions. Working as an automotive technician, he had also co-founded a party bus business with his cousins. His aspirations extended to owning a group home to assist teenagers in need, reflecting his commitment to community and personal growth.
In the days following the murder, witnesses reported seeing three men fleeing the scene on foot. Despite these accounts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. The San Francisco Police Department continues to seek information that could lead to the identification and prosecution of those responsible. ...Read More
