A Tragic Afternoon in Long Beach
On December 14, 2014, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department responded to a distress call reporting a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Robert Lee Hollie, Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite prompt medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, Hollie was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. The preliminary investigation revealed that Hollie had been approached by two male suspects in a dark-colored vehicle; one of the occupants opened fire, striking Hollie before fleeing westbound on Pacific Coast Highway. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, though authorities have considered the possibility of gang-related activity.
