A Tragic Afternoon in Long Beach

On December 14, 2014, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department responded to a distress call reporting a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. Upon arrival, officers discovered 33-year-old Robert Lee Hollie, Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite prompt medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, Hollie was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. The preliminary investigation revealed that Hollie had been approached by two male suspects in a dark-colored vehicle; one of the occupants opened fire, striking Hollie before fleeing westbound on Pacific Coast Highway. The motive for the shooting remains unknown, though authorities have considered the possibility of gang-related activity.

Born on February 17, 1981, in Long Beach, California, Robert Lee "Lil' Rob" Hollie, Jr., was the eldest son of Jacqueline Lane Parker Hollie and Robert Lee Hollie, Sr. He grew up alongside his brothers, Leon Demetri Hollie and Rodney Deon Hollie. From a young age, Robert exhibited a passion for football, playing for the Poly Pop Warner team and later becoming a standout quarterback at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. His athletic prowess earned him numerous trophies, some as tall as he was, and the admiration of his peers.
