A Tragic Evening in Lawndale

On the evening of July 20, 2017, the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago's West Side was shaken by a senseless act of violence. At approximately 9:05 p.m., 21-year-old Jaron Jackson stood near the 2000 block of South Pulaski Road, close to the Pink Line station, when an unidentified male approached and opened fire. The assailant's bullets struck Jackson in the neck and back, leaving him mortally wounded. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene just twenty minutes later.

A Young Life Remembered

Born on September 18, 1995, Jaron Jackson was the middle child in a family of twelve. Growing up in Chicago, he developed a passion for rapping, listening to music, biking, and playing video games. Those who knew him recall his vibrant personality and the joy he brought to those around him. Jackson attended Paderewski Elementary School and later pursued his education at Orr High School, eventually earning his GED in 2012.
