Dwayne Edward Alphonse, affectionately known as “Red” or “Dee,” was a 19-year-old student and landscaper from New Orleans. Born on August 15, 1997, he was raised by his devoted grandmother, Cynthia Glover, whom he cherished as a mother figure. Described by his grandfather as a quiet and respectful young man who "kept to himself" and "never got into any trouble," Dwayne was known for his gentle demeanor and strong family ties. He was the loving son of Erica Alphonse and the late Dwayne Glover, and a brother to Alfred Glover, Eric, Erin, Rod’Keesa, Alaysa, and Yasmine Alphonse. At the time of his death, Dwayne was working in landscaping and was looking forward to celebrating his 20th birthday in August.
On the evening of Sunday, June 25, 2017, around 10:30 PM, gunshots echoed through the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans. Police responded to a call about shots fired and discovered Dwayne lying face up on a neighbor's lawn. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. His death marked the 93rd homicide in New Orleans that year.
Dwayne's murder was not the first tragedy to strike his family. He was the fifth member of his family to be killed by gun violence over a span of 21 years, including his father, Dwayne Glover. This pattern of loss has left the family in a state of perpetual mourning, grappling with the recurring pain of losing loved ones to senseless violence.
Despite the passage of time, Dwayne's murder remains unsolved. Authorities have not identified a suspect or established a clear motive for the shooting. The lack of leads has left the case cold, with investigators hoping that someone will come forward with information that could bring justice to Dwayne and his family. ...Read More
