The victim, later identified as 26-year-old Santiago Gutierrez-Hernandez, had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. This grim discovery marked the beginning of a complex and, to date, unresolved homicide investigation.

Investigations revealed that Santiago was last seen alive on October 13, 2010, four days before his body was found.
