A Life Cut Short
On the evening of March 14, 2014, the tranquility of Washington, D.C.'s Southeast neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 7:10 PM, 30-year-old Delonte "Scooter" Jackson was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on the unit block of 46th Street, SE. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, Jackson succumbed to his injuries the following day, leaving a void in his family and community that remains unfilled.
The Immediate Aftermath
In the days following the tragic incident, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) launched an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for Jackson's death. Flyers were distributed throughout the community, and a reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
