In the early hours of July 19, 2013, 22-year-old Amber Bass returned to her home on Springtree Road in Jacksonville, Florida, after an evening spent with friends. As she walked up the driveway of the residence she shared with her sister, Robin Lezcano, an unknown assailant confronted her. In a sudden act of violence, Amber was shot once in the chest, a wound that would prove fatal. Her sister, awakened by the gunshot, rushed outside to find Amber bleeding in the driveway.
