A Tragic Evening at R&R Garage
On April 18, 2012, the routine hum of activity at R&R Garage in Anchorage, Alaska, was shattered by a violent intrusion. Michael Curry, the 42-year-old service manager, was attending to his duties when a lone gunman entered the premises. The assailant attempted to rob Curry and, in the ensuing confrontation, shot both Curry and another employee. The perpetrator then fled the scene in a dark-colored mid-size SUV, leaving behind a community in shock and mourning.
Remembering Michael Curry
Born on December 26, 1968, in Whittier, California, Michael Jay Curry moved to Anchorage in the 1990s, where he established himself as a skilled automotive technician. He eventually owned Curry's Truck & Auto and, for the five years leading up to his death, served as the service manager at R&R Garage. Beyond his professional life, Michael was a passionate musician, known for his love of guitars and music. He was a devoted husband to Christie, whom he married on August 17, 2007, and a father to his sons, Krede and Kody.
