The Fateful Afternoon of May 17, 2012
On May 17, 2012, the Parkland neighborhood in west Louisville became the epicenter of a devastating series of events. At approximately 1 p.m., gunfire erupted on South 32nd Street, resulting in the deaths of 24-year-old Tyson Mimms and 22-year-old Craig Bland Jr. Two other men were also wounded during this initial shooting. The violence did not end there; about 90 minutes later, and just a block away, another shooting occurred, claiming the life of 24-year-old Makeba Lee, Mimms' girlfriend.
