Carlo Tateo, a 31-year-old physical education teacher from Oakland, California, was more than an educator; he was a beacon of hope and guidance for many young individuals in his community. As an alumnus of Skyline High School, Carlo returned to his alma mater to serve as a teacher, advisor, and coach, dedicating his life to mentoring students and fostering their development. The Tragic Night in San Francisco

On June 18, 2017, Carlo's life was abruptly taken in a senseless act of violence. Around 2 a.m., he and a group of friends were outside a nightclub near 11th and Folsom Streets in San Francisco's South of Market (SoMa) district. The group encountered two men who began harassing one of the women accompanying Carlo. Demonstrating his protective nature, Carlo intervened, asking the men to cease their inappropriate behavior. Without warning, one of the men produced a firearm and shot Carlo. He was transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
