On 2/12/1954 teenagers were hiking in Griffith Park when they found skeletal remains. Animal activity was noted to the bones and clothing. Near the body was a Hercules 410 gauge single action shotgun with serial number 7727. The shotgun had a sawed off barrel and butt. Winchester 410 gauge shotgun shells were found in the coat pocket.
