On January 19, 1939, a sheepherder found the decomposed, fully clothed body of an elderly male in the western Box Elder County desert, 20 miles south of Kelton. The clothing consisted of a brown checkered cap with no lining and was found north of the body. A brown coat, a blue jacket with narrow white stripes worn under the coat, a dark shirt, a blue tie, dark brown pants, a leather belt, two-piece heavy underwear, cheap cotton socks, and brown work shoes, approximately size 8.
