On October 28, 2000, an unidentified male, later referred to as Karl Ceasare Wager, was discovered in a state of altered consciousness at the Wagon Wheel hotel in Oxnard, California. In an attempt to provide medical aid, emergency services transported him to St. John's Regional Medical Center. Despite the medical attention he received, Wager was pronounced dead within 24 hours of his arrival at the hospital.
