On October 9, 2019, the body of Michael A. Stephens was discovered at the Halawa Correctional Facility in Honolulu, Hawaii. Stephens was an inmate residing under hospice care due to undisclosed health issues. His unresponsive state was first noticed by a nurse in the infirmary where he was housed. Medical personnel responded promptly; however, Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene.
