On October 5, 2020, the body of an individual identified as Billy Jones, a male, was discovered in Bessemer, Alabama, marking the start of what became an unclaimed person case. Billy Jones was found to have died of natural causes while he was an inpatient at UAB Medical West Hospital, located in Bessemer. During his life, he had been a long-term resident at Diversicare of Bessemer Nursing Home, suggesting that he had spent a significant amount of time in medical or assisted living care.
