Despite the exhaustive efforts made by the agency, no family members could be identified or contacted.
Once declared an unclaimed person, Kevin Hugh Fowler was cremated by a rotation funeral home, and his cremains were subsequently returned to the medical examiner's office. During the investigation of his background, it was revealed that Fowler was a veteran, which made him eligible for burial honors at the Tahoma National Cemetery. This discovery offered a dignified solution for honoring the deceased.
On February 24, 2017, Fowler's cremains were released to the Missing in America Project, an organization dedicated to providing final honors and a proper burial for unclaimed veterans. This allowed Kevin Hugh Fowler, with no family to claim him in life or death, to receive the respect and recognition he deserved for his service to the country. Through the coordinated efforts of the PCMEO and the Missing in America Project, his remains found a resting place among other esteemed veterans at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
