In February of 2018, the body of Lillian Mueller was discovered in her Philadelphia residence by neighbors. Her sudden passing left her unclaimed, resulting in an ongoing case managed by the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office. Despite efforts to piece together her life and final moments, the absence of directly involved family members complicated the case of this unclaimed person.

At the time of Lillian's death, her sister, Elsie Kerner, was the only immediate family member contacted. Elsie was residing in a nursing home due to dementia, which rendered her incapable of making any necessary arrangements for Lillian. Despite the familial connection, Elsie's health condition eliminated any possibility of her taking charge of her sister's affairs, contributing to the difficulty in resolving the case.

Investigators also identified Lillian's son, Mark Mueller, who previously lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Unfortunately, their attempts to locate and communicate with Mark were unsuccessful, further deepening the challenge of finding a relative who could provide closure for Lillian's case. Without any directive from family, the responsibility resides with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office, located at 400 North Broad Street in Philadelphia. The agency, reachable at 215-685-7445, continues to manage the details, documented under Agency Case Number 18-0910 and Namus ID UCP5142. As the investigation persists, the lack of family involvement continues to define Lillian Mueller's case as unclaimed.
