On May 17, 2017, the body of Aubrey Gene Laney was discovered in Memphis, Tennessee. Laney was a resident of the Quince Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and died on the same day under circumstances that included a possible fall. The Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office took jurisdiction of the case to investigate the cause and circumstances surrounding his death.
