On July 31, 2015, the body of William Ray Long was discovered in Dallas, Texas. He was pronounced deceased in the city, and despite efforts to identify and locate his next of kin, he remains an unclaimed person. The circumstances surrounding his death have been documented by the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science, which has taken charge of the case under the identifier IFS-15-12257.
