On October 13, 2021, the body of Jose Juvenal Rodas-Flores was discovered in a tent beneath the overpass on the East Lake Levee in Santa Cruz, California. A man living a transient lifestyle, Mr. Rodas-Flores had called Santa Cruz County home for approximately 23 years following his emigration from El Salvador. His presence in the area spanned more than two decades, but despite his long residence, circumstances led to his tragic demise in seclusion.
