On October 16, 1999, the body of William Gaines, an unclaimed person, was discovered in Washington. Despite efforts to identify and connect him with his next of kin, his case remains unsolved. Little is elaborated about the circumstances surrounding his death, but the absence of claims from family or friends has left his case open for more than two decades. With numerous possible avenues of identification exhausted, the case remains at a standstill.
