On September 2, 2022, a 60-year-old man known to many in the community as Carmello Santa was discovered unresponsive in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Santa was a homeless individual who lived under the radar, often seen around town but known primarily to a few acquaintances. His lack of a primary care physician and limited personal connections complicated the efforts to piece together his life story.
