On an April evening in 1987, the life of 45-year-old Indiana State Police Sergeant John Edward Hatfull was tragically cut short in Posey County. A dedicated officer with over 14 years of service, he was leading an Emergency Response Team to a rural residence on Tile Factory Road where a man had barricaded himself inside, threatening suicide. The situation had already stretched on for several hours, a tense standoff with a volatile and armed individual.
