In the autumn of 2009, in the small community of Bluffton, Indiana, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragedy that would tear a family apart. At the home of his parents, 27-year-old Tyler White confronted his estranged wife, 28-year-old Amy White. The couple was navigating a difficult separation and were scheduled for a provisional custody hearing for their young son, Max, the very next day. During an argument, Tyler White shot Amy twice in the abdomen.
When paramedics arrived, they found Amy with no pulse and were unable to resuscitate her. Tragically, Amy was eleven or twelve weeks pregnant at the time of her death, and the fetus also perished. Their son Max was present at the scene when his mother was killed.
