Sodhi, a long-time taxi driver for
Washington Flyer, was known by his colleagues as a friendly and respected individual. For two decades, he had been a familiar face to those traveling through Dulles Airport, and the news of his violent demise came as a profound shock to those who knew him. Neighbors in the well-kept Aldie development also held a positive image of the Chahal family, describing them as friendly and helpful, with Sodhi even assisting with neighbors' yard work. However, beneath this facade of normalcy, a domestic altercation escalated to a devastating conclusion.
On that fateful Tuesday night, during a heated dispute, Sodhi S. Chahal turned a gun on his own family. He fired several shots, killing his 36-year-old wife, Mandeep K. Chahal. In the midst of the chaos, he also shot and injured his mother-in-law. The couple's two children, then 12 and 16 years old, were present in the house at the time but were miraculously unharmed.
