In the quiet community of Hanover, Virginia, the summer of 2015 was shattered by a grim discovery. On the morning of June 27th, the body of 30-year-old Craig Michael Bates, a Black male, was found by the roadside in the 1500 block of Mickie Town Road. The initial discovery showed signs of trauma, and the Hanover County Sheriff's Office immediately launched an investigation into his death, which was quickly determined to be a homicide.
