In the quiet community of Hanover, Virginia, the summer of 2015 was shattered by a grim discovery. On the morning of June 27th, the body of 30-year-old Craig Michael Bates, a Black male, was found by the roadside in the 1500 block of Mickie Town Road. The initial discovery showed signs of trauma, and the Hanover County Sheriff's Office immediately launched an investigation into his death, which was quickly determined to be a homicide.
The subsequent autopsy, conducted by the Medical
Examiner, revealed that Craig Bates had died from a gunshot wound. Investigators began the arduous task of piecing together the final hours of his life, seeking to speak with anyone who had been in contact with him on the evening of June 26th and the early morning of June 27th. They also released a photograph of an Infinity SUV that he was known to drive, hoping to gather more leads from the public. The Hanover County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Justin Valentino Mason.
