On a late summer evening in Abingdon, Virginia, the life of 55-year-old Randy Lee McIntyre came to a sudden and violent end. On August 26, 2017, inside his home on Ironwood Loop, the man known for his love of hunting, fishing, and Virginia Tech football, died from a single shotgun wound to the chest. What initially might have appeared as a quiet passing at home, as suggested by his obituary, was soon revealed to be a tragic case of domestic violence.
