She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her active involvement in her church and her dedication to her family. Joan's death was part of a horrific triple homicide that also claimed the lives of her daughter, Emily Marie Bernard Bivens, and her 14-month-old grandson, Cullen Micah Bivens.
